Specialist medical
care around surgery
PROAC provides perioperative and inpatient geriatric medical care for older and medically complex surgical patients.
Perioperative care means medical care before, during and after surgery, working alongside your surgical team.
-
Where required, Dr Seymour provides medical assessment and optimisation before surgery. This includes consideration of existing health conditions, frailty, medications and anaesthetic considerations, in partnership with your surgeon and anaesthetist.
-
Dr Seymour provides ongoing medical review and co-management throughout your admission.
Care includes proactive attention to the risks of surgery in later life, including delirium, pain management and complex medical needs.
-
Where rehabilitation is needed, PROAC helps coordinate this so recovery can continue after discharge.
The focus is on supporting your recovery, independence and quality of life.
-
PROAC works in partnership with your surgeon, anaesthetist and other specialists as required. Arrangements for specialist cover support continuity of care when Dr Seymour is unavailable.
-
Dr Seymour welcomes referrals from surgeons and other specialists for patients receiving care in private hospitals.
If you are a patient or family member, please discuss referral with your treating specialist or contact PROAC for information.
